An uneventful day today. Chris worked. Beth and the kids packed. Zoë left very detailed instructions on the care and feeding of tadpoles and completed her water safety instructor training (and is now certified to teach swimming classes). We left town about 6:30 after Zoë's class was over.
Nothing substantial to report on the way up. Although we did stop by the Akeley Paul Bunyan statue. Our friend Cynthia mentioned him when she was visiting from Roosevelt last weekend. We've been through Akeley many times but I guess we've never taken a left turn (well, ok, so, normally a right and then a left, but never a left, and a u-turn and a left, as we did this time). So. We stopped. We took photos. We left.
Now we are in Bemidji.
End Day 0.
That Paul Bunyon guy sure is a big, BIG man. What is the state of the water level there?
ReplyDeleteGood travels!

Not certain how high the water is yet. It was getting back to normal at home but some of the rivers looked high (to me) on the way up. We'll compare the water level at the headwaters today to our internal historical archive and let you know our assessment.
ReplyDeleteAlso, some aerial watershed supplementation is expected throughout the day today so hopefully the flood waters (if they were getting a bit low) can get back to threatening personal property and washing out roads again soon.
